This laptop was tested with Ubuntu 9.10, 10.04 and 11.10.
Wireless support does work but most current Linux distribution don't support it fully at the moment. You need to install the latest version of the compat-wireless drivers for fully functioning wireless.
In Ubuntu 9.10 you should try installing the linux-backports-modules-karmic package before installing the above as this includes updated wireless drivers as well.
In Ubuntu 10.04 and 11.1 the wireless worked out of the box.
With older distros the wireless component of the Acer Aspire 5534 is the main obstacle with this laptop. A bit of work should get it working properly and newer Linux distributions seem to have solved this issue.
