 +====== Acer Aspire One 722-0828 ======
 +===== Introduction =====
 +The Acer Aspire One 722-0828 is a categorized as a netbook, but it is a beautiful little machine, inexpensive and with fairly good processing power. Installation of GNU/Linux (OpenSuse 11.4) on this little machine was fairly easy. The main sticking point was to get the wireless card to work without "freezing" the system.

 +===== Installing openSUSE 11.4 x86-64 on Acer Aspire 722-0828: =====
 +Based on my experience with Acer Aspire 1551, I decided to go directly to
 +installing from external optical drive.
 +==== DVD install from external DVD drive: ====
 +Download DVD install image (openSUSE-11.4-DVD-x86_64.iso) from the
 +[[http://114/en|openSUSE]] download site. Boot onto DVD
 +and choose install, write acpi=off in the kernel option line. Follow
 +installation menu as per instructions in
 +[[http://SDB:Installation_help|Installation Help]]. After
 +installing all packages and writing some configuration files, the system will
 +ask to reboot.
 +I usually install the system with root password and without
 +automatic login. After rebooting and logging in I found that the wireless card
 +had not been detected, this was not a problem because I was connected via a
 +wired connection.
 +I brought the system up to date using yast and rebooted again.
 +Then I added extra repositories including:
 +- ATI
 +- Packman
 +- VideoLan
 +A new update installed a somewhat old proprietary ATI graphic driver.
 +... To Be Continued ...
 +Update January 19th 2014
 +I am back after a short while :)
 +Installation of Linux Mint 16 "Petra" KDE version works out of the box with no hardware issues
