 +===== Notes =====
 +This model has an SSD and an HDD. If you wish to install Linux alongside Windows, you must use the UEFI/EFI setting that your windows partition is using. For example, if Windows is installed with EFI, install Linux under EFI and just use the same EFI partition for both operating systems.
 +
 +Do not forget to turn off Secure Boot in Windows UEFI settings before installing Linux or GRUB will fail to boot windows. If you have already installed Linux having not done so, you will still be able to boot Windows from the Windows boot loader by putting it above GRUB in the boot menu (assuming you have such a menu in your BIOS settings).
 +
 +Linux Mint 14 is the best release, earlier versions had issues.  Ubuntu 12.10 had severe wireless issues with this laptop, these do not present in LM 14.
 +
 +Ubuntu 14.04LTS works almost entirely out of the box. You will have to use the brightness workaround below to use the brightness hotkeys.
 +
 +
 +Be sure to set the power settings, by default the laptop will not hibernate when the lid is closed, this kills the battery.  Turn off bluetooth if you do not use it to increase battery life.
 +
 +===== Brightness workaround =====
 +
 +To get the brightness function keys working correctly, a small change to GRUB is required. Follow these instructions:
 +
 +First open a terminal window (digit Alt+Ctrl+T) and type :
 +<code>
 +sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
 +</code>
 +This will open the grub configuration file. (Grub is the initial boot selection software)
 +To be able to set the brightness, You've got to modify the line:
 +
 +<code>
 +GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""
 +</code>
 + to
 +<code>
 +GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="quiet splash acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=vendor"
 +</code>
 +===== Summary =====
 +
 +Overall this is a great laptop for Linux.  Looks great, fast, does not overheat and battery life is decent to good.
