Brightness control does not work not even with vendor tweaks to grub setup. This is a bug in kernel versions 3.7.x to 8.3.9 See https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55701
So far the only fix working for me was to downgrade the kernel to 3.6.11. However acording to the bug-report this should have been solved in version 8.3.10. But so far this does not work on Fedora 18 even with kernel 8.3.11.
On Fedora 18 UEFI with secureboot works perfectly so no need to turn off secureboot or use Legacy MBR mode.
The Acer Aspire V5-531 works very well with Fedora 18. Almost everything works out of the box and it has really nice boot/shutdown times. Graphics acceleration could be improved but does work quite well.
