 +===== Notes =====
 +Graphics card works GREAT with FOSS driver (tried in LMDE, Arch & Ubuntu) but obviously doesn't have quite the power of the closed-source driver.  I had some issues getting fglrx working in Arch Linux (had to remove BusID from xorg.conf, set nomodeset in GRUB, etc) but otherwise works well with 3D games (Minecraft, Bastion, Super Meat Boy, Gish, basically everything I threw at it). One remaining issue was video tearing with fglrx, the normal fix is to use amdccle and enable "Tear free desktop" but this option is NOT available for this card unfortunately.  See below for the serious issues.
 +===== Summary =====
 +Firstly, Ubuntu 12.04 worked beautifully on this laptop,the only nagging issue I had was with suspend (hibernate always worked fine).  What would happen is that the laptop would go to sleep just fine but would NOT turn the screen back on upon wake (the machine truly woke; I could type "sudo reboot" and it would reboot).  In Ubuntu this was fixed with a simple script (see links below) but in Arch Linux I had no such luck on the FOSS driver; for whatever reason with the fglrx module it went to sleep and awoke without issue.
 +I'd also recommend using the latest compat-wireless drivers as some routers decided they hated this chipset and constantly kicked me off!  Most of the time I had no issue with the ath9k driver, though.
 +After all my issues were resovled I installed an SSD (make sure BIOS is set to AHCI mode!) and dual-booted; Windows and Arch Linux worked without issues EXCEPT for the video tearing problem described above.  Machine gets a little hot but is very quite and seems to work just fine with every distro I tried.
 +See [[https://viewtopic.php?id=145195|here]] and [[https://viewtopic.php?pid=1133916#p1133916|here]] for lots of hardware output, problem descriptions and resolutions.
 +Oh, and that suspend script for Ubuntu/LMDE?  Right [[http://questions/53372/suspend-hibernate-doesnt-work-on-an-asus-laptop|here]].
