This 14-inch laptop was introduced in 2019 and can run Mint 19.1 (based on Ubuntu 18.10) out of the box. Like many other Thinkpads, it is sold in many different configurations.

To select a boot device or enter BIOS setup: press ENTER immediately when the red Lenovo logo appears. You only have a fraction of a second.
It is possible to control the battery charging to extend the lifetime of the built-in battery (stop charging at 80%, start charging below 75%). See Thinkpad battery management.
This Thinkpad will sometimes emit a continuous beep during booting (stops when the OS is loaded). It seems to be related to a disabled SecureBoot.
I installed Linux on two E490 laptops. On one of them, the touchpad and trackpoint were dead in the factory-installed Windows 10 (even after driver updates), but they were working flawlessly in Linux.
